VESSEL IN A GALE

BARQUE’S LONG VOYAGE. LONDON, September 14. After an adventurous voyage of six and a-half months from Sydney, the fourmasted barque Garthpool, of 3652 tons, commanded by Captain Wylie, has berthed at Birkenhead. The vessel did not see another craft for 73 days. A great gale around the Falkland Isles smashed the steering gear. Two cadets suffered from appendicitis, but were cured by four days of starvation.
