GIGANTIC DRAGONS
CAPTURED IN MALAY JUNGLE. SHIPMENT TO AMERICA. (Freaa Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, September 24. It is announced that Mr Douglas Burden, of the American Museum of Natural History, captured two gigantic dragons in the jungles of Komodo Island (Malay Archipelago), which are now en route to America by the Aquitania. They are huge lizard-like creatures, Bft long and 2001 b in weight. Their appearance is horrible in the extreme. They are as thick as a man’s body, and are entirely covered with close protecting armour. They have stubby legs, but can run faster than a man. They are entirely carnivorous. While the expedition was effecting their capture one leaped on to the back of a horse and so injured the animal that it had to be shot. The other consumed the hindquarters of a deer at a single meal.— Sydney Sun Cable.
