PALMERSTON NOTES.

(From Oub Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, September 25. STOCK SALE. The monthly stock sale at Palmerston was held yesterday, when there was a small yarding of sheep and a good one of cattle and pigs. Bidding was slow, except for a few lines of good quality, and anything fat or ready to fatten brought good prices. Pigs were, as usual, in demand, slips realising as high as 425. WEATHER. There have been a few days of ideal spring weather, which is in pleasant contrast to the blizzard of last week. The surface of the ground is dry, and a day’s rain would do good. A slight shower or two fell to-day. LAMBING. Lambing is wel- advanced, but Unfortunately there are several cases, as there wore last season, of lambs being attacked

by some form of kidney disease, which has proved fatal. Strange to say, it is the most forward lambs that are attacked by the malady. GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT. The Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) will visit Palmerston on October 12, arriving by train at 10 a.m. He will be met at the station and motored to the District High School, where he will address the children. Later a civic reception, and a luncheon will be given in the Town Hall, after which he will depart by motor for Waikouaiti. His Excellency will be accompanied by Lady Alice Fergusson.
