CHURCH OF CHRIST.
Yesterday was the last day on which the services of the Church of Christ were held in the • Tabernacle, King street. Both meetings were largely attended, those present including many old members of the church now in membership with the suburban Churches of Christ. Mr W. D. More, in the course of his address, said: — ‘‘For 54 years the activities of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ have been carried on in this building, and who is able to measure completely the story of the years of those whose service was done to the glory of God? We may take pride in the fact that this church has been the mother of churches; it has been a training ground for foreign missionaries and other workers in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. We look at this building which, because of its 'years, has passed its days of usefulness, as we look at old age, a crown of honour because of the part taken in the extension of the Kingdom God. We covenant today to be at least as faithful as our fathers were, and like those ancient people we are able to take the past help of Jehovah as a promise of future help and power. When we have faithfulness and courage. God will never be absent from us, and we look forward by vision to greater activities with the forward movement of the living God." Mr More in the evening preached another eloquent sermon to a large congregation. Special musical items were rendered at each service, and a memorable day concluded with thanksgiving solo and prayer.
