MR COBHAM’S FLIGHT
ARRIVAL AT KARACHI. (Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) DELHI, September 23. Mr Cobham has arrived at Karachi. — A. and N.Z. Cable. LANDING ON SERPENTINE. NOTE OF WARNING SOUNDED. LONDON, September 23. The newspapers are eagerly discussing the project that Mr Cobham should land on the Serpentine in Hyde Park. An alternative suggestion is made that he should alight on the Thames, near the Houses of Parliament, hut this is not being considered officially. The Morning Post’s aviation expert explains that normally the Air Ministry prohibits aircraft flying low over London, though no precise height limit exists. “His machine being a seaplane, Mr Cqhham would he able to keep within gliding distance of the Thames,’ he says, “and thus avoid the risk of a crash in the crowded streets. The actual lighting on the Serpentine will need the most skilful judgment, if there is a cross wind, as trees prevent a low approach. It would be very regrettable io attach an unnecessary risk to the close of a magnificent flight. If the weather is in any way unsuitable I hope the Serpentine landing will he reconsidered.” —A. and N.Z. Cable.
