PROPOSED ENGLISH TOUR. M ANA WAT U WITHDRAWS OPPOSITION. (Peb United Pbesb association.) PALMERSTON V., September 16. Following the advice from the New Zealand Cricket Council that the proposed tour of England will not prejudicially affect fut’ tours of Australia, and also that the minor associations will not be allocated a definite quota of shares in the company to finance the tour, the Maoawatu Cricket Association has now withdrawn its opposition to the tcf.r and wil. give it its support. NORTH-EAST VALLEY CLUB. The annual meeting of the North-East Valley Cricket Club was held fm Wednesday night, and was presided over by Mr Newey, There was a fair attendance of rubers. ' The Chairman, in moving the adaption of the annual report and balance sheet, co meuted on the performances of the various teams, and offered his congratulations to the fourth grade team, which had done extremely well. The balance sheet showed the finances of the club to be in a highly satisfactory condition Mr Ingram, wno seconded the motion, endorsed the remarks of Mr Newey. The report was adopted. The following office-bearers were erected;—Patron, Mr H. Sanders; president, Mr A. E. Ansell; vice-presidents— Messrs A White, G. Newey, Hudson, J. C. Rigby, and J. xUoore; hon. secretary, iwr M. Anderson; assistant e rotary, Mr S. Armishaw; club captain, Mr H. Jewiss; committee —Messrs J. Mackle, H. Bunn, J. Hope, F. Moorehouse, T. Hughes, S. Armishaw, and G. Cook. Selection Committee, Messrs H. _ Bunn and T. txughes; practice captains, Messrs F. Moorehouse and C. Shepherd; delegate to 0.C.A., Mr M Anderson; delegate to 0.5.P.A., Mr J. Mackle; In . auuitors. Messrs G. Newey and H. Sanders. Seven new members were also elected. Trophies were presented to the follow-ing:—-J. Hope (A team batting), M. Anderson {B team batting), F. Rigby (D teat batting', H. Bunn (A team bowling), D. Gellivar. (B team bawling), J Dewar (D team bowling). In addition, trophies were awarded to the following:— T. Hughes, winner of D. Forrester and Co.’s trophy for the highest aggregate; D. Heenan, most improved senior player; F. Foster, most improved junior player.
