ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee o{ the Otago Football Association was held last evening, Mr J. B. M'Callum being in the chair. Mr U. Hector, representing the Technical College Club, asked which was the No. 1 ground on the Oval. It transpired in the discussion, which followed, that one of tho committee knew which was which in regard to the playing areas on the Oval, and tho meeting undertook to get the matter to rights during the week, by having the goals marked.

Mr Hector also drew attention to tho tact that his club had only two or thre* matches on its homo ground. Mr Scott explained the method of carrying out the draw, and stated that it was a matter oi chance that Technical Club had been drawn in this way, but that the matter would probably bo adjusted in the second round, although the committee reserved its right to play the club on Culling Park when tho matches warranted it

The delegate expressed himsoll as satisfied, and further suggested that the 'cur.s and trophies belonging to the association should bo placed on view in the various districts; also that a banner or cup should be presented to the team winning the first round. Regarding the first suggestion, members agreed that the cup and trophies should be placed on view, and it was pointed out to the delegate that the committee had already discussed tho matter of obtaining a trophy for the winners of tho first round, but nothing definite had yet been decided on. In connection with tho committee’s building scheme, delegates who attended special meetings of the High School Old Boys, Moriiinglon, Y.M.C.A., and Pride of the Leith clubs, reported that they had boon met in a very enthusiastic manner, and satisfactory results might bo looked for. Tho hon secretary of tho Southland li'ootball Association advised that, owing to a late start in its season, it was unable to plav Otago on Thursday. In connection with the English Football Cup matches it was decided to ask the Wellington Association to alter the date of its match with Otago at Dunedin to July 17. and to advise the N.Z.F.A. that the suggested dates for Otago’s game with Canterbury at Christchurch on September |l. and against Auckland at Auckland on September 18, were acceptable. It was n Iso decided to apply for permission to play Manawatu at Palmerston North on September 15 on the way to Auckland.

At the request of the N.Z.F.A., the ques tion of playing a North v. South Island match was discussed. Mr Scott pointed out that the first North v. South match was played at Christchurch, and it was then formally stated that each island would have the match in turn. The second game took place at Wanganui, and he moved that the committee agree to a North v. South match being played this year provided the gain* was played in Dunedin.—This motion was carried. _ _ , The Secretary of the Southern Club applied to enter a team in the fifth grade.— Entry accepted. . .... , Mr D. Budge, referee in the third grade match Mornington v. High School, reported that the former club took the field 10 minutes late, and that three of the Mornington team left the field during tho second spell without permission, to take part in a second grade game.—lt was decided to point out to the Mornington Club that this was contrary to the rules, and the committee trusted that there would not he a recurrence of the matter. Mr E. Andersen, d member of the committee, forwarded his resignation, ow-ing to pressure of other matters, and this was accepted, members expressing their regret at losing his valued services. Mr M. G. M’lnncs requested that the match High School A v. B, fourth etade, be 1 played on the Oval next Saturday to give the boys an opportunity of playing on a larger ground.—Received, and referred to Match Committee. Mr J. Simpson reported that Mr Conn Aitcheson had offered to give a gold medal to the association. —The offer was accepted with thanks, the question of allocation to be decided later on. .
