THE LATE DR M‘NAB.

FITTING MEMORIAL SUGGESTED. (From Oub Own Correspondent.) WYNDHAM, May 27. Speaking at Wyndbam this afternoon, the Hon. G. J. Anderson (Minister of Labour, Mines, and Marine) said it was the duty of the Southland people to erect a fitting memorial to the late Dr M'Nab. Dr M‘Nab gave his very best to the district he represented, and spared no expense in searching the history of the province and the district. The information left in his books was such that men of imagination in perusing them at a later period would weave round them some of the finest fiction and romance ever written. Dr M’Nab had served faithfully on the Legislature, which fact, combined with his literary ability, made him an outstanding personality. A fitting memorial should be erected in the Mataura decorate, and it was the duty of the people to see that this was done. Men who served the people in public life and spent their best energy were not sufficiently commemorated. Dr M‘Nab was worthy of the highest honour, and it was the bounden duty of the Southland people, especially the Mataura electorate, to do something to perpetuate his memory. Dr M'Nab’s greatest services and best efforts were expended on behalf of the Mataura electorate, and it therefore lay w-ith them to act and have a memorial erected for all to sec.
