LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION.

The council of the Dunedin branch of the League of Nations’ Union met on Friday evening to consider a heavy agenda in view of the approaching Conference of Dominion Unions on April 22, which will take place in the Returned Stldiers’ Club Rooms. Those present were; Bishop Richards, the Rev. hi D. Bellhouse, Dr Fisher (Dominion pre sident), Messrs A Burn, A. Cameron, J. Crow, H G. Ferguson, H. Johnston, J. T. Paul, H. T. Sanders, Mesdames P. Ross, M.A , J. Runciman, and Mrs Leech (secretary). In the absence of the chairman, the Rev. Hr Bellhouse (vice president) presided. , Correspondence was submitted from the International Labour Office (Geneva), the League of Nations Secretariat (Geneva), the League of Nations’ Union (London), Sir Henry Lunn (New York), Dr Valintine (Director of Health Wellington). The Secretary submitted a report, on the work of the past four months, including the work at the stall in the Exhibition, where the propaganda proved encouraging. The thanks of the council were tendered to Mrs Leech tor the organisation, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Christie for her voluntary work in regular attendance at the stall three afternoons a week since the opening. It was decided that a letter of appreciation be written to Mrs Christie. Mr A. Cameron brought down a report ot the Lecture Committee. The council asked Mr Cameron to accept the office of hon. assistant secretary. 1 . The Hon Treasurer (Mr J. Greenfield) reported that when all liabilities were discharged there was but a small balance in hand. . , , .. The presiding Chairman spoke of the conference of International Missionary organisation, which meets on April 27, 28, and 29, when Dr Mott, M.A., LL.D.. the divine and statesman, will lecture. He conveyed an invitation to the union to appoint two deletrains to represent this body. Dr Fisher and Mr H. T. Sanders were appointed. Remits were passed and a sub-committee was set up to consider and report to the Dominion Conference on suitable literature to bo obtained.
