PARAMOUNT’S GREATER MOVIE SEASON.
ESSAY COMPETITION. '■ Great interest is being taken in the Parainouat Essay Competition for a grand tour of Australia or New Zealand for the best essay of less than 250 words on the subject, “What the Motion Picture s Means to Our Community.” The contest la being conducted as a feature of Paramount s Third Greater Movie Season during the present month in leading picture theatres throughout Australia or New Zealand. The offer of the grand tour of either country with all expenses paid is open only to readers of this newspaper or patrons of any theatre clebrating the Greater Movie Season. , . . „ The motion picture has done much in the building up of our towns and cities. It has enlivened community life. It affords great entertainment for rich and poor, young and old'. If the motion picture has ever meant relaxation or enjoyment to you, incorporate that message in vour essay. You may wi nthe grand tour, if a woman wins the prize expenses of a travelling companion will also be paid.
Here are the rules: — The contest opened on March 1 and terminates on March 20. Essay must not exceed 250 words. Every essay must be accompanied by a special application form from the columns of this newspaper or obtainable fromany motion picture theatre celebrating Paramount’s Greater Movie Season. Essavs must be addressed to the Greater Movie Season Editor in care of this newsGreater Movie Season Editor will adjudge the best three essays submitted to this newspaper, and then forward them to Paramount's head office in Sydney, whew final adjudging of the one best essay will be done by three independent adjudicators. Paramount’s Greater Movie Season was inaugurated by leading theatres in Australia and New Zealand two years ago. So successful was the occasion that America adopted the plan in toto and put it into operation only last August, accrediting this country with the idea. Paramount s Greater Movie Season means that under the new order of things in the production of motion pictures all theatres celebrating the event will present unusual programmes of attractions.
