(Received Jan. 31, at 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Express understands that the Cabinet is likely to adopt a new and far-reaching agricultural policy, based on the formation of a central land mortgage corporation formed with the co-operation of the joint stock ban Ira to provide credits on a national scale for the farmers upon securities like crops, which the banks have hitherto not accepted. The Government will cook to develop agriculture by similar methods to the Continental system of oocorving-dw'nofship of small holdings. There' will be a comprehensive land drainage reclamation scheme, opening up largo areas for cultivation. The proposals will be on a scale calculated to affect the (whole of British agriculture.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
