PRISONERS SENTENCED. (Pee Unitsd Press Association.! WEEDING TON, January 25. At the Supreme Court to-day Herbert William Upjohn, agcvl 20 years, on four charges of false pretences, was committed to the Borstal Institute for two years. Herbert Vivian Walington, aged 1(1 years, for forgery and uttering, was placed on probation for four years. Mr Justice Reed commented upon the cashing of cheques of from £7 to £lO to such a boy, and thought the tradesmen concerned deserved very llitle consideration, and said he would make no order for restitution. Vernon Lionel Clark, for forgery and uttering, was placed on probation for three years on condition that he abstained from alcoholic liquors, made restitution,and paid the, costs of the proceedings. James Daniel Markham. for breaking, entering, theft, and attempted breaking, entering, and theft, and Arthur Douglas, on similar charges and on a charge of using obscene language, were each placed on three years’ probation and ordered to toko out prohibition orders.
