ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MOTOR CAB WRECKED. gIX PASSENGERS INJURED. ONE SUCCUMBS. (jlkb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 123. Just before midnight a seven-seatex motor car travelling to Auckland, when turning a corner at Papakura, skirted and crashed into a telegraph post, aud waa badly wrecked. Six passengers were injured and 'wore convoyed to the Auckland Hospital. Harry Booth, aged SB, received injuries to his head, and hie condition is serious. Richard O’Shea aged 27, suffered from a compound fracture to too tibia and general abrasions. Mrs Bertha Mercer, aged 30, received head injuries and facial abrasions, Mrs Chloe Robinson, aged 2S, received cuts on the face which necessitated stitches. The driver, T, Meroer, sustained a slight out over toe eye. The mishap was caused by the bursting of a roar tyre. AUCKLAISD, January 24. Harry Kingston Booth, who was injured in the Papakura motor car accident early yesterday morning, died last evening. _ Miss Alice Olaen, who waa also injured, is reported to be in a serious condition. INFANT STRANGLED (Pee United Peess Association.) AUCKLAND, January 24. A nine-month-old child named M Laron, whose parents reside in Bamicrman road, Western Springs, was found strangled today. It was hanging from its cat, and when visited only half an hour previously the child was sleeping. A WOMAN’S DEATH. POISONING SUSPECTED. (Per United Phess Association.) TIMARU, January 23, At 8.30 o’clock to-night the police received intimation of the death under circumstances pointing to arsenic poisoning of Caroline Wilson, a married woman, aged 35 years, residing sfc Buchanan street. An inquest will be held to-mocrow. A SUDDEN DEATH. (Pbr United Pkess Association.) WELLINGTON, January 24. MrL. “Tip* Wilson, manager of the Tivoli Theatre, died suddenly this afternoon. The deceased was well known in the theatrical profession throughout the Dominion. He was a member of an Auckland family. accident at municipal baths. Ivan Murdoch, a single man aged 28 years, residing at Clydehill road, Caversham, ; injured his back when jumping off a springboard at tho Municipal Baths on Saturday nteht. He was admitted to the Public Hospital, and was reported last night to be progressing satisfactorily.
