A GRAVE CHARGE.

ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER. THE NGARUAWAHIA CASE. (Peb United Press Association.) HAMILTON, Januar- 15. Arising 1 out of tho recent case at Ngaruawahia, Roy Charles Dorn was charged on remand, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at the Hamilton Court to-day with attempting to murder Muriel Tetzlaff. Detective-sergeant Sweeney, in asking for a remand until January 20. stated that the girl was still in a critical condition. The remand was granted, no bail being asked for. On the night of January 7 tho police at Hamilton received a telephone message from Ngaruawahia that a young woman named Muriel Tetzlaff, aged 19 years, was lying in a critical condition in a house in the township. From subsequent information Detectivesergeant Sweeney and Detective Cullot/ paid a visit to a boardinghouse, where they interviewed Roy Charles Dorn, aged 19, and, as the result of the interview, Dom was taken to Ngaruawabia, where a court was opened, before which Dom was charged with attempting to murder the girL In her statement the sick girl said she and Dom had been keeping company for the past two years. In consequence of a certain condition she visited him at Hamilton on the previous Wednesday night, where they had a long conversation relative to her condition. Plans for the future were arranged, and they were to be married on January 9, brut owing to something ho said she learned that he did not love 'Tier, and ho asked her to call tho following evening. This she did, when ho gave her a small bottle of ammonia and same small thin sticks to take with the liquid. He then shook hands with her, and thanked her for what she was going to do for him. She later went to Ngaruawahia, where the previous afternoon sho took the liquid and tho small sticks. Sho became violently ill, a doctor was called in, and details of her serious condition were communicated to the police.
