OTAGO MOTOR CLUB.

The Otago Motor Club held it* monthly general meeting of members at the club rooms on Tuesday evening. The president (Mr A. E. Ansel!) presided over a good attendance of members and others who had com* to hear an address by Mr J. B> Marks, on “Financing for Good Hoads.” The Chairman said that sine* publicity had been given in the press tothe speeding that was going on on the recently improved North road, this trouble had practically disappeared. He was over the road on Sunday, and though there were hundreds of cars about he did not see one case of misuse of the road. Ha appreciated the action of motorists in using the road instead of abusing it.—(Applause.) He expressed also his appreciation of what the police had done here lately in the control of traffic. He had - made careful observations, and he was satisfied that the police responsible were a credit lo the city.—(“Hear, hear.”) Mr Ansell mentioned that the Highways Beard would be visiting the south next February, and he suggested that County Councils should get together and unite with the Motor Club in making such representations to the board as they desired. Thirty-five new members were elected. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.. Timarn, in acknowledging posters sent him by the club, said he had given instructions that two copies were to he displayed in a prominent position in the Timaru Courthouse. In his opmion they were excellent and every motorist should possess one. The Chairman referred to certain matters discussed at the recent Motorists’ Conference held here, and also to the arrangements made for camping visiting motorists comfortably at Tahuna Park. Mr HaUiday spoke of the importance of educating children in the use of roads, and suggested that if lessons could not be taught in the schools an appropriate article might he inserted in the School Journal. Posters or circulars might he prepared and circulated.
