(Pee United Press Association.) KELSON, October 21. At Takaka, T. B. Mason pleaded not guilty to failing to account for moneys received, these being the property of N. Emms. Walter Robert MTlraiili. aged 19 years, was charged an' the Christchurch Police Court with that at Riccarton, on August 16, he drove a motor cycle negligently, causing the death of Frank Reginald Hubbard, a cyclist. Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Albert Charles Thompson, aged 25 years, employed by the New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association, pleaded guilty this morning to eight charges of stealing £312 from the firm.. He was committed for sentence. The evidence showed that accused had adonted a clever system of making out false credit slips in the name of fictitious clients. _ GISBORNE, October 21. This morning a Public Works lorry, employed on the East Coast road, was found destroyed bv fire near Pouawa. Owing to a slight defect, it was decided on Monday evening to leave the lorry on the roadside overnight; and when the overseer went to the spot this morning he saw only the smouldering -emains of the Three men were arrested in connection with the affair on charges of the theft of 20 gallons of benzine, the properly of the Now Zealand Government, and of mischief.
