HARRIERS.

The Caversham Harrier# held the concluding day of their field events’ meeting at Forbury Park on Saturday. The rain made conditions very unpleasant, and the track was very heavy. Results: —100 Yards Gillies 1, Hebbard 2, Mill 3. 440 Yards: Hethorington 1, Gibbs 2, Hebbard 3. Putting Shot: Gibbs (27ft lin) 1, Mills (25ft lin) 2. Hebbard (21ft 2in) 3. High Jump: G. Hopkins 1, G. Hetherington 2, A. Hill 3. The Leith Harriers hold their second sports’ meeting on the Ross Creek Reservoir Reserve, which was in a very bad condition. The rain, which fell all the afternoon, made conditions very awkward for the runners, but with all that the meeting came off very well. The placings were aa follows; 220 Yards: J. Fraser 1, A. Ellis 2, D. Fraser 5. 838 Yards: A. Ellis 1, J. Fraser 2, D. Fraser 3. Hop, Stop, and Jump; J. Fraser 1, A. Ellis 2, W. Buchanan 3. Long Jump: A. Ellis 1, J. Fraser 2, W. Buchanan 3. The Cargill Road Methodist Harriers held their weekly run from the schoolroom Wesley street. The pack ran down Wesley street along Macandrew road, down round by Forbury Park, and over the sandhills on to the beach. Here a football match was played and enjoyed by all, the game being fast and even. After the match the harriers ran along to St. Clair, and home via Macandrew road, a fast nm homo being held up Wesley street. The Civil Service Harriers held a Onemile Walk Handicap from Forbury Park on Saturday afternoon. The course was from the park gate on the road to St. Kilda and back. Thirteen started, Wilson, tlie Otago champion, being on the scratch mark, and conceding starts up to 140yds. At halfway M’Kernan (120yds) had a lead of 60yds, from Herum 25yds, with the scratch man Wilson 30yds away. The back markers gained on the road back, but M'Kernan kept the lead to win by 15yds from Herum, with Wilson 10yds away third. The course wan slightly over the distance. Result; — B. R. M'Kernan (120yds) 1 P. Herum (25yds) 2, J. A. Wilson (scr) 3. Time, 7miu 66sec. After the race a short club run was held. . The St. Kilda Harriers held their weekly run from Orchard Leigh, Green Island. The trail, laid by T. Kelson and C. Tidey, led round the back of the station and across a broad ploughed paddock, coming out behind the tileries, the trail then led across tussock land to Fairfield, where the runners struck the road, and held a fast run home. The run was an ideal cross-country example, especially near Freeman’s sandpit, where the members had the experience of a swim through the swamp. ’The Anglican Harriers held their first sports meeting at Forbury Park. _ The entries were gcod for ail events, which resulted as follows:—100 Yards Handicap: F. W. Gray 1, L. R. Stroud 2, P. Wederell 3. 440 Yards Handicap: F. W. Gray 1, P. Wederell 2, R. O. Johnson 3. High Jumn Handicap: F. W. Gray 1, 1 1 . Bradley 2, R. 0. Johnson 3. Putting Shot Handicap: A. Fleming 1, F. Bradley 2, R. 0. Johnson 3. The Pacific Harriers heM their 100 Yards and Half-mile Handicaps at Forbury Park. After the heavy rain the course was in had condition, and the runners were liberally bespattered with mud. Following are the results: —100 Yards: A. C. Grey, scr. 1; A. Fish, 9yds, 2: F. Mouat, Byds, 3, Half-mile: J. Morris, 40yds, 1; P. Gibson. 55yds, 2; F. Mouat, 55yds, 3.
