NEW SOUTH WALES FIGURES. HEAVY TRAMWAY DEFICIT. Pros* Ascocistion —By Telegraph—Copyriglai SYDNEY, September 12. For the year ended June 30 last the operations of the New South Wales railways and tramways showed a deficit of £69,142. The railways made a surplus of £32,957, but the deficiency on tramways amounted to £102,079. The commissioners report that the earnings were adversely affected to .the extent of £588,000 on the railways and £15,000 on the tramways owing to the reduction in freight rates during the year, and to the increases in wages and salaries and also by previous reductions in rates and fares.
