PIGEON FLYING.

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race on Saturday from Christchurch, an airline distance of 199 miles. The birds put up a great fly for such a hard day, having to contend with fog and heavy ram all the way. They were liberated at 9.30 a.m., and the winning bird timed in at 3.37 p.m., taking Ghr Train for the journey. The station master liberated 70 birds, representing 12 lofts, with the following result (in yards per minute); —F. Jones’s Nelreno, 956, 1; G. Coutts’ Lady Eleanor, 941, 2; S. Lynn's Return, 937, 3; R. Parker's Rota, 841, 4; A. Stevenson’s Bonny Hose, 835, 5. Birds entered by E. Diehl, J. Scoullar, .1. .Still, J. Monk, J. Ritchie, M, Ponsford, and W. Hargreaves also flew.
