(Received August 5, at 11.10 p.m.) In his presidential address at the annual conference of the Farmers and Settlers Association Mr Thorby stressed tho principle of an Australian parity. He said they had fought for years to get a tariff reform that was a little fairer to the producer, but the time had come when they should adopt a new’ line of attack and base all their transactions on the Australian parity and ignore the oversea, prices just as all other sections of Australian people were doing. BUTTER AND CHEESE. EXPORT BOUNTY PROPOSAL. SYDNEY, August 5. (Received August 5, at 11.10 pjn.) Tho Federal Dairy Produce Control Board has commenced a discussion of the export of butter and cheese. It will consider the Paterson scheme for the stabilisation of tho butter and’ cheese industries. The proposal aims at the imposition of a levy on tho production of butter and cheese* tho proceeds to be absorbed as bounties on exports.
