(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. Potatoes are firmer than they have been for some time; this being due to over-sellers buying to cover commitments. The recent wet weather has had a bad effect on the undug crops, and in many instances the ground is so water-logged that digging is at present out of the question. Owing to these conditions, it is likely that some potatoes will not be worth digging at all. Business in onions is just about finished. As a rule it stops at about the end of Juno but this year it has run into the present month. There is a better inquiry for ryegrass, both perennial and Italian.
