ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH. (Peb United Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE. Juno 11. Thomas Chapman Cook, aged about 79, was knocked down at Danncvirko yesterday afternoon by a car driven by S. Walker, of Raumiti, and died in the hospital from a, fractured skull. Deceased was crossing tho street, and apparently did not see tho car. DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. John Col lister, aged four, whose parents reside at Kaiapoi, died in the Christchurch Hospital this afternoon under an amesthetio while undergoing an operation. A FRACTURED SKULL. (Per United ioress Association.) AUCKLAND, June 11. While walking on a footpath in tho city William Johnson, aged 40, a tyro export, was struck on the head by a flagpole which fell from the Commercial Hotek where building alterations are being carried out. Hjs skull was fractured, 1 but his condition ia not considered serious. Gladys Hayes, aged seven years, and residing with her parents at 229 Main South road,*was admitted to tho Dunedin Hospital yesterday, suffering from scalds. The mishap was caused by a little brother upsetting a kettle of water over her.
