♦ SHORTAGE IN WELLINGTON. (From Ode Own Cobhespondent.) WELLINGTON,, June 9. A deputation of sportsmen which waited on the City Council Reserves Committee here appealed for more grounds for recreation purposes. They also reminded Hie committee of the lack of dressing accommodation for players on several existing grounds. A new golf house on the municipal golf links is in hand and something is* to he done to provide more accommodation at Wakefield Bark The claims of swimmers, basketball players, “Soccer.” and hockey were also placed before the committee, and with the backing of the secretary to tho Sports Protection Association the deputation created a very favourable impression on tho committee, which is going into the various matters with the director of reserves, 'The Rugby League also sent a delegation to press for morp grounds and more dates on the Basin Reserve, but this matter has to be considered from various aspects, and tile oommdtteo is going to look into it.
