IN PRAISE OF SMOKERS

MR BALDWIN’S TRIBUTE. HIS OWN SPECIAL MIXTURE. Prces Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, Juno 3(Received June 4, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr Stanley Baldwin, who is rivalling Sir James Barrie as the premier pipesmoker of Britain, made some interesting revelations when he was receiving the freedom of Dundee. He said: “1 have always found that pipe-smokers had a wisdom, a calmness, an outlook, and a breadth of vision denied the cigarette or cigar smokers. Partly owing to my love of my pipe and partly to my Scottish ancestry Lord Haldane always keeps me supplied with tobacco which is labelled ‘Glasgow Presbyterian Mixture.’ It is an admirable tobacco, blended by a Divine of the Scottish Church.” —A. and N.Z. Cable.
