DUNEDIN STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY. A meeting of shareholders in the Dunedin Starr-Bowkott Society was held in the Stuart street Oddfellows’ Hall last night. Mr A. Cable occupied .the chair, and there was a fair number of shareholders present. The 152nd appropriation of £SOO in the No. 3 group was hallottod for, cluster No .70 being drawn, held by one shareholder. Cluster No. 0, held by one shareholder, was drawn in the 66th appropriation of £SOO in the No. 4 group. The 2Gth appropriation of £3OO in the No. 5 group was disposed of by sale at a premium of £46 per cent. UNITED STARR-BOWKETT BUILDING SOCIETY. A meeting of members of the United Starr-Bowkett Building Society was held last evening in J. W. Sraeaton and Co.'a office to dispose of £IOOO. Mr E. A. Kosovcar, chairman of directors, staled that another £ISOO would bo disposed of this month, which included the first sale in No. 9 group. There wore still a few shares available in this group, and those wishing to join up should not miss this opportunity. Ho was pleased to say the society had grown to such proportions that extensive building alterations were being made so as to cope with the increased business. The membership of the society was now considerably over 2000. A ballot was then held for the 33rd appropriation in No. 6 group. Cluster No. 150 was drawn, held by one member. A sale was then hold for the 34th appropriation in No, 6 group, which resulted, £SOO at £36. SOUTHLAND WOOLLEN MILLS. At a meeting of the directors of the Southland Woollen Mills (Ltd.), Mr F. Wallis, jun., chairman of the company, who presided, reported that very good progress continued to be made in regal'd to the formation of the company. A considerable amount of support had been received from Otago, extending as fur north as Oamaru. The company had now 958 shareholders, and the total amount of the shares subscribed to date amounted to approximately £66,000. ->o doubt a number of people were waiting for the company to make some forward move ot a definite character so as to give an assurance that the work of establishing the mills was to bo given effect to. The policy of the board was to hasten slowly, but be hoped that definite action would be taken before long. The board intended to advertise for land from which to select the most suitable site for the mills. Ho was of the opinion that a considerable number of shares could still be placed in Southland, and ho trusted that the company’s broker would give an opportunity to the Southland people to acquire a still further interest in the company. Since the last allotment applications had boon received for 3680 shares, and this number was drjly allotted. It was decided to ‘hold the next meeting of directors in a fortnight’s time, when the question of selecting the site will bt considered, DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs A. S. Paterson and 00.
