PIPING AND DANCING.
CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITIONS. The championship competitions of the Ctago Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand were continued yesterday morning and afternoon. At both sessions the audience wag treated to good displays of these picturesque Highland dances. Dancing ■of unusual merit was witnessed and successful competitors were treated to hearty applause by enthusiastic admirers of their art. PIOBAIREACHD (CEOL MOR). Prizes, £4, £2. £1; also Begg Cup for winner. Hr G. Yardley (Dunedin) 1 Mr J. J. Miller (Thornbury) 2 Mr D. Robinson (Invercargill) .. .. These were the only competitors. MARCHES. Prizes, £3, £2, £1; Thomson Cup for winner. Mr G. Yardley (Dunedin 1 Mr J. J. Miller (Thornbury) 2 Mr G. Ross (Dunedin) 3 The following also played:—Messrs Alex. Ross (Berwick), Alex. Boss (Dunedin), David Robinson (Invercargill), W. Budge (Dunedin), W. C. Munro (Mokotua). HIGHLAND FLING. Boys under 10. Gold medal for first. Asquith Rayner (Dunedin) 1 J. Martin (Green Island) 2 These were the only coriipetitors. SWORD DANCE. Girls 10 and under 12. Gold medal for first, silver medals for second and third.
