SIXTY YEARS AGO. FROM THE Otago Daily Times. "Inveniam viam aut faciam." SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 1865.
SHIPPING. SUPPOSED LOSS OP THE CITY OF DGNEDIN.
Since the arrival of the steamer Tarim la a week ago, there have been indefinite rumours , afloat as to the safety of the paddle steamer City of Dunedin, belonging to to this port, which, by the time of the Tararua’s visit to Nelson, should have reached.- that place on her way westward to Hokitika. . . By the advices which were yesterday received by the Queen there seems' to bo little doubt that in the neighbourhood of Wellington some vessel has been totally lost and we regret to say that the accumulation of evidence favours the painful presumption that that vessel was no other than the City of Dunedin. . .
