RIFLE SHOOTING.
WAIRAEAFa ASSOCIATION'S MEETING. (Pee United Peess Association.) CARTERTON, April 27. The Wairarapa Rifle Association's post* poned meeting was opened at Papawai today. The weather was dull but fine, and the light good. As the morning progressed a drizzly rain fell, but had no effect on the shooting to any extent. The light failed quickly in the afternoon, and in the Canterbury Match the conditions for the last men were very bad. The programme was prepared on the basis of 150 entrants with the prize money at £620, but as the number of shooters totalled 105, the prize money was reduced to £493. Results; SERVICE MATCH (300 yards).—P. Bolton (Opaki),' 46, £2; Goodall (Suburbs), I>. H'Kenzie (Opaki), R. H. Nioholl (Petone), all 44, £1; J. C. Carter (Linton) 43, C. Whiteman (Upper Hntt), 42, £1; six others. Ids. H. Cromie (Ashburton), 41, was counted out. BIDWILL MATCH (300 yards).—W. Kelle (Linton), 50, £5; E. Ballinger (Petone), 49, £4; J. C. Feast (Greytown), 49, £3; H. B. Hunt (Suburbs) 49, and 10 others, £l. Eight were counted out. Tyros: Pour £l, four 100. AUCKLAND MATCH (500 yards).—A. H. Corun (Westport), 50, £4 10s; W. J. Green.
