Cr Lunn reported having attended a meeting of delegates in regard to an Otago Co'nrt at the Exhibition. Port Chalmers’s share of the cost would be .£sO.—Cr M’Lachlan thought it was well worth that sum, and moved in that direction, but on an amendment moved by Cr Anderson it was decided to leave the matter over for the incoming council. The Town Manager brought up several matters in connection with the sanitary contract, and his suggestions were approved. VALEDICTORY. The Mayor said as this was the last meeting of the present council he wished to thank the councillors for the assistance they had given in managing the affairs of the town. Some useful and permanent work had been done despite the reduced staff and state of the finances. There was still a lot to do as opportunity offered. The town had been kept clean and healthy, and the council had worked well within its income. Some mistakes had been made, the most glaring to his mind being in connection with the Reservoir road bridge and Island terrace sewer. However, they had done very well, and he thanked them for their services.
