THE WEATHER.
Late on Wednesday evening rain set in. and continued until about 10 o’clock yesterday morning. About midday the sky began to clear, but it was not long before the clouds again banked up. In the evening showers fell at intervals, and broken weather continued throughout the night. The rain was not very beneficial, only adding more moisture to the already soaked ground. . Very welcome rain set in at Naseby about 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday, and continued , throughout. At times it was very heavy, and it was still raining yesterday morning. Heavy rain fell at Middlemarch on Wednesday night and a good part of yesterday. Rain fell heavily again last night, with the result that all the creeks were in full flood. The river, however, rose only about Ift bin. RAIN IN CANTERBURY. , (Peb United Pbess Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 30. Rain has been falling steadily for the greater part of the day, and the whole province has had another thorough soaking.
