TEA ROOM CHARGES.
TO THE EDITOB. gin,—Your correspondent's weak attempt to belittle ont establishment will be ridiculed by all right-thinking people. We do not profess to be philanthropists, bat have always endeavoured to render a real service to all sections of the community, and it is not without precedent that we should be criticised for so doing. Furthermore, we do not wich to compete with the municipal authorities, having had experience in the past of providing free public conveniences. To be perfectly frank, we are not interested in this class of business, though for the convenience of our patrons a comfortablyfurnished dressing room is provided with plenty of hot water, soap, clean towels, etc., and, for obvious reasons, a small charge is m-ade, at least equivalent to municipal charges. I venture to say that nowhere in the wide world is better restaurant service given for the price charged, and this fact would be apparent to your correspondent bad she been in the position to make comparison. We make it a rule to refund the modest charge for service in our establishment should patrons believe they have cause for complaint, and your correspondent is entitled to participate in this offer on application.—• I am, etc., Philip Baruno.
