PUNGA CROQUET CLUB.
The Punga Croquet Club hold it annual general meeting in the pavilion on Monday afternoon. The president (Mrs Bowman) occupied the chair. The balance sheet showed the club to be in a flourishing condition, the amount to credit being £99. The annual report congratulated members on the successful season. The pavilion had been painted and improved greatly to the comfort of members. A very successful tournament was held in March last in which players from Invercargill, Balclutha, and Alexandra participated, The want of a standard-sized lawn had for years been acutely felt, but this year the club should be in possession of the first full-sized lawn in Dunedin. Through the instrumentality of Mr Tannock, who had suggested the idea, the committee had arranged with the corporation to lay down the lawn, the club bearing the cost. The work had been carried out most expeditiously, and the lawn was now almost completed, and should be ready for play about the end of the year. The cost, fHO, was mostly in hand, thanks to the very energetic way the members had worked during the winter months. The following officers were elected :■ — President, Mrs Bowman (re-elected); vicepresidents—Mrs J. M’Donald, Mr J. Horn, M.P., and Mr A. E. Gascoigne; committee— Mesdames Alien, Alexander, Bricked, Dixon. Gascoigne, J. Watson, and It. Watson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr ,T. Alexander; hon. auditor, Mr W. G. Kindley.
