tPsa United Press Association.! HAMILTON, September 4. Frank Ernest Garrett was found not guilty of assaulting Charles Edwin Richdale at Terore. It will 1m remembered that Riohdale was found seriously hurt, and alleged that he was knocked on the head by Garrett. Later Richdale committed suicide. Accused admittted having visited Richdale on business, but denied the assault. Tire defence claimed that Richdale, who was acting peculiarly, injured himself. WELLINGTON, September 4. For a number cf years the Wellington City Council has been running a freight oar on the tramlines at a loss. Last year it was proposed to abandon the service, but strong representations were made in favour of retaining it, and premises of support were given. Those have not been kept, and it is now understood that the service will bo stopped. TIMARU, September 4. At the Magistrate’s Court, Hugh Thomas Yorman M’Auley, aged 18 years and 11 months, was committed for trial on six charges of committing unnatural offences. GISBORNE, September 4. \ young married man named James Rogers was fined £5 on each cf two charges of molesting young ladies by placing his arm round their necks and grabbing their wrists. The magistrate said that drunkenness was no excuse.
