FOOTBALL SUPREMACY.
TO THE EDITOi. Sir,—Your correspondent, “Union is Strength,” writing’ in Friday’s issue, I take at his own valuation—ho knows nothing about football. He becomes bold and assertive. however, when ho states that New Zealand holds tho world’s supremacy in Rugby. Would he kindly point out when and where this country gained such an enviable distinction? If I remember rightly it is only a number of years ago when the famous Springboks visited these shores, and what was the result? They literally wiped the floor with Now Zealand from Auckland to Invercargill. And what about the gallant Principality? It, too, has to bo reckoned with when supreme honours are being distributed. Bearing tho above in mind, it is ludicrous and absurd to maiie such an egregious claim.—l am, etc., Unbiased. Dunedin, August 18.
