THE TREMEADOW. The Union Company advises that the chartered Hain Line steamer Tremeadow with a Cargo of phosphates from Nauru Island for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, is duo at Lyttelton to-morrow. THE NIELS NIELSEN. The Norwegian steamer Niels Nielsen, en route from Portland, via Vancouver, is to leave San Francisco on Thursday for Auckland, where she is due about September 11. LING NAM LEAVES HONGKONG. The Chungwha Navigation Company's steamer Ling Nam left Hongkong on August 2 for Sydney, via Taxakau and Thursday Island. She is duo at Sydney on Thursday, and will sail from there two days later for South American ports, via New Zealand and .Tahiti. _ ' WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner lonic, en route from London and Southampton to Wellington and Lyttelton with passengers, mails and cargo, cleared Balboa in continuation of her voyage on August 8. The vessel is due at Wellington on August 31. LOWANA AT COLON. The Melbourne Steam Ship Company’s new steamer Lowana, en route from Montreal to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timam, and Dunedin, arrived at Colon on August 12. The vessel is running under the auspices of the Now Zealand Shipping Company, and is due at Auckland about September 7. NTRFURA LEAVES NEW YORK. The A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Nirpura ia reported to have sailed from Now York on August 8 with case oil and general cargo for discharge at Auckland, ■ Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland about September 7. The Nirpnra is owned by the Britiehlijdia Steam Navigation Company, and is coming to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. PENNYWORTH LEAVES BUNBURY. Cabled advise received by Millar’s Went Australian. Hardwood Company states that the steamer Pennyworth sailed from Bunbury on August 9 with a cargo of jarruh for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin. The vessel is duo at Auckland on August 23 and at Wellington about September 2. The cargo of jarrah will be discharged as follows: —534,000 ft at Auckland, 1,380,000 ft at Wellington, and 564,000 ft at Dunedin. Included in the cargo are 650,000 ft of sleepers. The consignees are the Government and the Millar Company. MAMARI REPORTED. The Shew, Savill, and Albion L ; ne steamer Mamon, which sailed from London on July 26 for Auckland, Napier, Dunedin, and Nelson, is reported to have arrived at Colon on August 12. The vessel is expected at Auckland about September 3, MAIMOA CLEARED BALBOA. Advice lias been received that the Shaw, Savill, add Albion steamer Maimoa, en route from Liverpool, cleared Balboa on August 10 for Auckland, where she is due on September 1. •• The vessel is bringing cargo for at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, «hd Duaadin.

LING NAM FOR WELLINGTON. Advice has been received that the Chinese steamer Ling Nam, now en route from Hongkong to Sydney, via Thursday Island, is to leave the New South Wale* port about August 21 for Wellington. She is expected to arrive at Wellington on August 28, and will proceed thence to Papeete, Balboa, Callao, and Iquiquo. NAURU PHOSPHATE SHIPMENTS. The fourth year of Die British Prosphate Commission’s control of the Nauru and Ocean Island phosphate deposits ended on Juno 30. The total shipments for the year were 45,109 tens, which constitutes a record, being 87,000 tons more than the best previous your in the history of the two islands. In the four years since July 1, 1920, under the commission’s control, the total output from the two islands reached 1,491,577 tons. This quantity was apportioned as follows: Australia 960,677 tons, New Zealand 168,000 tens, United Kingdom 32,300 tons, other countries 330,600 tons. SHIP DERWENT CHARTERED. Tho old clipper ship Derwent, once wellknown in the passenger service between London and Sydney, arrived at San Francisco on June 9 from Callao with a. cargo of scrap iron, after a passage of 87 days. The Derwent has been chartered to load lumber at a North Pacific port for Capetown, and from the latter port she will probably proceed to Australia for future loading. EASTERN TRADE—REPORT DENTED. A denial was given early this month by the leading Australian shipping companies trading to the East of a report which has been circulated in shipping circles of an alleged reduction in rates for general cargo amounting to 50 per cent. It ia stated in well informed circles that minor adjustment has been effected in rates on leather, but that this was only a temporary fluctuation, which was subject to review at any time (says the Sydney Morning Herald). The statement, however, that the rate on general cargo to Japan had been reduced from 80s to 40s per ton, was, however, without foundation. TEKOA’S LOADING PORTS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Tekoa, mow discharging London cargo at Auckland, is to leave tho northern port on Thursday for Wellington. Tho vesijfel should arrive there on August 23, and after completing discharge will proceed to New Plymouth to commence loading. The Tekoa will afterwards load at Wanganui, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington. She will be despatched from Wellington finally about September 16 for West of England ports and London, via Panama.
