BOWLING.

DUNEDIN CENTRE EXECUTIVE. The first meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Howling Centre since the annual meeting was held in the secretary’s board room last night. Mr F. J. Campbell (president) presided over a full attendance of members. In opening the meeting the chairman welcomed the members, and expressed the hope that they would all work together for the good of the game of bowls. He congratulated Messrs D. M. Fastier and J. ,T. Marlow on their success in being elected to the Dominion Council. He hoped they would worthily uphold the South Island against the North Island. In conclusion he thanked those present for electing him president, and assured them he would do his utmost to work with the members in the interests of the game. The Deith Bowling Club wrote asking for information regarding the necessary steps to be taken for affiliation. It enclosed a copy of the rules and a sample of the proposed colours. —The secretary was instructed to supply the required information. The committee of the Mornington Bowling Club wrote extending the president and members of the centre an invitation to attend the ceremony of opening the pavition on September 4.—The invitation was accepted with thanks. The Southland Bowling Centre wrote thanking Mr B. Harraway, Dunedin, for presenting a shield for competition between Southland and Otago centres. The conditions of play for the shield had, been referred to a special committee for conIt was decided that the local representative to the Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington on September 10 be instructed to support the green test, and also that the date of the year of test should be stamped on the bowls. The Chairman stated that at the annual meeting it had been decided to hold tournaments at Christmas and Easter, and the question to decide now was what form the tournaments would take. After brief discussion it was decided to hold a doubles tournament at Christmas at l!ss per pair and a rinks tournament at £2 per team at Easter, with 2s 6d per member for a consolation knock-out competition on the second day. It was resolved to hold a shield rmk competition on Elderly Bowlers’ Day, and the question of the selection of the champion rinks was left to the clubs. It was decided that entries for the fourrink and Saturday matches close on Saturday, September 13.
