The Kauri, with a hardwood cargo from is duo here on Saturday, and Is to Sail on Saturday for Timaru and Wellington. The Wanaka is scheduled to leave Auckland on Saturday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She will proceed to Bluff to complete discharge, and will then load at Dunedin for Auckland, via ports. The Wingatui, from Bluff, is due here on Sunday, and is to sail on Monday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington, and Auckland.

She will complete loading at Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. RIO CLARO, FROM NEW YORK. Messrs J. W. Swift and Co., local agents f or the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, advise that the chartered steamer Rio Clare, from New York, which arrived at Auckland on Monday, will continue unloading at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. Due hero about August 22, stre will discharge general cargo and case oil. THE PORT CURTIS. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Curtis, from Dunedin, is to leave Bluff to-day for New Plymouth, where she will complete discharge. She will then proceed to Oumaru, Timaru, Napier, and Wellington to load for Home, and is expected to leave the lastnamed port about the end of the month for London, via Montevideo. WAIMANA LOADING. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Walmana arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Lyttelton to load a large shipment of dominion products for England. The vessel is to leave Wellington to-morrow for Gisborne and Auckland to complete loading. She will sail finally from Auckland about August 23 for London. THE CITY OP CANTON. The steamer City of Canton arrived at Wellington early on Saturday morning from New York, via Panama, Auckland, and Napier. The vessel encountered very bad weather after leaving Napier, and her progress was considerably delayed in consequence. The vessel, which, will discharge over 3000 tons of general cargo at Wellington, is to sail to-day for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Melbourne, to complete discharge. LAS VEGAS PROM AMERICA. Messrs Burns, Philp, and Co., advise that the Swayno and Hoyt Line steamer Las Vegas arrived at Auckland early on Saturday morning from San Francisco and Pacific Coast ports. The vessel is laden with American end Canadian cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is duo at Wellington to-day,, THE CANADIAN CONSTRUCTOR, The Canadian Government Line steamer Canadian Constructor arrived at Auckland at 1). a.m. on Saturday from Montreal, via Panama.', The vessel is laden with Canadian cargo, and after discharging a large quantity at Auckland will go to Sydney arid other Australian ports to complete discharge. The Canadian Constructor will afterwards return to- New Zealand to load at the principal ports about the third week in September for New York, Boston, and Montreal. - WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. ; The following vessels were expected to bo within range of the under-mentioned wireless stations last night:—Auckland: Malrura, Niagara, Sierra. Karori, Norbudda, Tekoa, Sqnoma, Tofua, Waikawa. H.M.S. Dunedin, Belfast Mam, Ngakuta, Largo Law, Waio. tapu, Canadian Constructor, Kuitoke, Rio Clara, Tremere, Waipori, Wanaka, and Keelung. Chatham Islands: Port Hunter arid Ruapehu. Wellington: Maori, Mararoa, Ngaio, Nordbo, Kaimanawa. Kaituna, Rama, Tairoa, Tutanekai, Corinthic, Moeraki. Mericop H. Whittier, Waikouaiti, Port Curtis, Wairnarino, and Arahura. NEW MOTOR SHIP TONNAGE. Shipbuilders and shipowners are now apparently looking to the motor ship to restore prosperity in their respective industries. This is indicated by the progress that has been made by the oil-engined ship during the past six months. According to The Motor Ship fdr July, vessels of this class, totalling 450,000 tons deadweight, have been launched or completed, whereas the corresponding figure for the whole of 1923 was under 500,000 tons. Seventy or 80 now large motor vessels, rwepenting a deadweight tonnage of over fiOu.ilOO, have beer contracted for since the beginning of the year, and it is estimated that there are now on order or under construction 160 to 170 ocean-going ships to be fitted with oil engines. These include cargo vessels of about 1,200,000 tons, in addition to nuuoy paasens** Musis.

VICTORLV FOR HONGKONG. The Union Company advise that the steamer Victoria is now scheduled to sail from Sydney on September 3 for Hongkong. SINGAPORB-AUSTRALIA TRADE. Advice received in Sydney states that the Ellerman and Buckuall steamer Crcwo Hall sailed from Singapore on July 27 for Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. The departure of this vessel is of more than passing interest, as she is the first of the company’s steamers engaged in the trade between Australia, Java, and Singapore to leave the last-named port for Sydney. The .City of Birmingham, which inaugurated the company's service from Australia, arrived at Sourahaya on July 20 Arrangements have been made for the Merton Hall to follow tiie Crewe Hall from Singapore, her departure from that port being fixed for August AUXILIARY SCHOONER TANGAROA. The auxiliary schooner Tangaroa, which was recently purchased from the Pacific Cable Board by Nobel's Explosive Company, is now undergoing repairs at Auckland. Tho schooner is at present equipped with an 80 horse-power Bolinder oil engine. This engine is to bo taken out and the vessel will be rigged as a top-sail schooner. After making several trips as such, she will be withdrawn from the service for a short period and installed with two semi-Diesel engines. The Tangaroa is to be employed in the intercolonial and coastal trade, and will bo used for canying explosives and general merchandise. LOADING AT NEWCASTLE. The Union Company ad rises that tho Waihemo, with a coal cargo from Newcastle, is due at Wellington about Monday nxet. The Katoa, from Newcastle, with coal for Picton and Miramar, is due at Wellington on Wednesday next. The Kahika, with coal from Newcastle for Wellington and Dunedin, is duo at Wellington to-morrow. ‘
