Tbe monthly meeting of the Ma.candrew Road School Committee was attended by Messrs A. Paine (chairman), W M’Koich, .1. Rees, J. Burt, H. Fox. A. M’Tndoe, R. Binder, and A. Smiley. Tho head master (Mr J. Bowie) reported that the numlien on the roll was: Boys 507. girls 265;—total, 572. Miss G. Little had been appointed as an extra teacher. Mr L. A. M'Kenzio had loft at the end of the month, and Mr Cabot was relieving teacher. The head master asked for permission for two of- the football teams and a girls’ hockey team and a basket ball team to visit Milton on Saturday and play matches against tho Milton School teams. Permission was granted. Mr H. Hunt resigned his seat on tho committee. Messrs M’Keich and Smiley reported visiting the school and finding everything satisfactory. _ Messrs Paine and Fox were appointed visitors for August. The chairman reported that tho school had been entered and 14 of the cupboards broken into. The head master reported that the football teams had been successful. The A Grade team had played seven matches,, winning them all; the Bantam A had also won the seven matches played. —An inquisitive old lady, out for an afternoon stroll, came upon a crowd .of urchins following respectfully at the heels of a large man, who was evidently in soma haste. “Is ho some famous person?” asked the old lady of one of the small boys. “Naw,” replied the youth, his eyes glued to the sidewalk, “he’s got a hole in his pocket.” There is no law of trespass in Scotland.
