Captain Sarto (N. Johnston) and Mandrake (A. E. Ellis) jumped three of the schooling hurdles in good style. A good exhibition over three hurdles was given by Royal Fame (Roach), Le Porte (J. T. Humphries), and Boomcrday (A. M'Donald). Merry Singer (A. M'Donald) and Cartoon (C. Dawson) were companions in a work-out over the schooling hurdles, both shaping well. Prince Rufus (E. Warner) jumped three hurdles, and afterwards did a round cn tho flat at a strong pace. Rowan and Kyoto wore schooled in company over the fences on the course proper. Kyoto stopped at the brush near the half-mile post, to which he hod on previous occasion shown a dislike, and Rowan completed the task alone. Achilleon (P. M'Brearty), Gaze (E. Copestake), and Firelight (A- M'Donald) jumped tho big tenches in company. Income, Interest, and a number of late arrivals were given easy tasks. Members of C. Christie’s southern team were out. Locbclla, who is reported to be a filter horse now than when he raced at Elleralie, did three rounds on the flat. A meeting of the Christchurch Golf Club was held to-night to consider the committee's estimates for bunkering and improving the course at Shirley. It was fitated that the present length of tho course was 5883 yards, and the proposed alteration would make it (1-13 yards, thus complying with tho championship rule that a course should bo coon yards or over.
