SUMMARY FOR JUNE. METEOROLOGISTS REPORT. (Peb United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, July 7. Tho Dominion Meteorologist supplies the following weather summary for the month of June, t The first half of the year which Juno completed will be remembered as a period of heavy rain. Tho rainfalls in Juno wore also much above the average in tho nigh levels of tho south, but b low normal in some of the East Coast, districts of both islands. Other parts of the country varied little from tho average of the same month m previous years. There wero several falls of snow on the ranges, but these quickly thawed, and tbe season has, on tho whole, been . rather mild, though frosts were frequent in the East Coast districts of the South Island. An observer in Southland ventures to remark that tho season has been far too good, and for this time of the year too mild. There are still too many blowflies, about, and unless it becomes much rougher in July and August the spring and autumn are not likely to be good. . . - There were four distinct westerly disturbances during tho month which culruinated on the Bth and 12th, and two which passed in tho south on tho 18th and iWth Tho weather between the 17th and tho 27th was very unsettled with heavy showers in most parts of the country. An ex-tropical cyclone passed in the north and Fast Coast districts on the 14th and 15th, causing easterly gales and tremendous seas on the East Coast, especially about GisDorne and Napier. As is usual in winter months, the storms nave alternated with periods of calm, but on the whole in the winter the total velocity of winds is usually less than in the summer.
