J. C. NEWLANDS’S RECITALS.

A programme varying in its interest and entertainment will bo presented by Mr ,1. C. Newlands in his first recital in Burns Hall on Tuesday, The lecturer is described by a critic as being an artist of rare abilities, who brings to his various readings a fine sense of apprcciaton and interpretative gifts of tho highest order. The programme is such that will tax the speaker's powers by its variety and entertainment, and includes works by many of Britain’s best authors. There should be a stirring reception to one of Scotland’s most able elocutionists. 'I ho protessor comes from New College, Edinburgh, where he lias been on the staff for many years.
