(Received June 22, at 5.5 p.m.) , An industrial conference at the Trades Hall, with' Mr Beasley (president of the Labour Council) in the chair, resolved 1 against the pre-selection of Labour parliamentary candidates. One delegate suggested that there should be inquiries regarding the moral character of candidates, and declared that during a visit to Parliament House lie had seen Labour members tumbling about the corridors drunk. _ _ ... The conference desired that inquiries should he made concerning the character of candidates in relation to the Labour movement, but not regarding their moral character.
