THE WABEL NORMAND CASE GREER ACQUITTED OF INTENT TO MURDER. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SAN SRANCISCO, June 19. ■ A telegram from Los Angeles says that Horace Greer, formerly chauffeur to Miss Mabel Normand, was acquitted on a charge of assault with intent to murder Mr C. D. Dines. He -was immediately rearrested and charged with tho violation of the Prohibition law, the police alleging that they found whisky in his room.—Router. On January 2 of this year Cortland Dines, an oil promoter, was shot and seriously wounded by Edgar Greer, who gave as*his excuse that Dines was “bothering Miss Normand.’’ Miss Normand and her friend, Miss Edna Pmviance, were detained by the police. Greer was stated; to have made a full confession in which he described questionable incidents in Dines’s apartment, impelling him to suggest that the actresses shoidd leave the place. Other accounts attributed the shooting to jealousy, but Miss Normand ridiculed this suggestion, and declared, that Greer was insane. Following on the occurrence several States placed a ban upon pictures in which' Miss Normand and Miss Purviance appeared.
