June 20 At the Building Goufeiouce the reports of the various committees were considered and many important alterations in the ex isting regulations for the building trade were approved. Details of the construction question, factory erection, and the preservation of timber were before the conference. It was contended that co-operation between (ho sawmillcr and consumer would effect economics of imparlance to every member of the community. All grades and species of timber forests would be conserved. The sawmillcr would win greater profits, and the consumer would receive cheaper and better timber, with seasoned wood free from decay. The life and structure of buildings would bo improved. Financing would be, placed on a bettor basis, and the combination of these factors would greatly reduce the cost and would alleviat e Ihe shortage of homes.
