LORD MAYOR DECLINES TO LEAD REFORMERS. DUBLIN, May 21. The abolition of the Dublin corporation by Government decree has delighted citizens, who have long been, protesting against the rate levy of 19s 2d in the pound. For tho current year there has been a reduction of Bd, compared with hist year's rates. Alderman O’Neill, tho Lord Mayor, was asked by the Government to retain his position, and to be chairman of the commissioners who arc to control tho city. In an interview, ho said ho was unable to accept this suggestion, as he considered the appointment of commissioners unwarranted. Citizens were badly treated by the Government in refusing to allow tho holding of elections.
