THE PORTUGUESE ARMY

EVIDENCE OF DISAFFECTION. GOVERNMENT’S SHOW OF FORCE. Pree# Association —By Telegraph—Copyright, LISBORN, June' 9. Twenty-nine air officers who refused to obey the decree of the Air Minister in appointing a new commandant of the aerodrome at Arrmdera have been arrested. The airmen, who are all youths of good family, entrenched themselves in the aerodrome, which was thereupon surrounded by a force of 4000 cavalry, after which the rebels surrendered. There are rumours of dissatisfaction in the army. The opinion is expressed that the great display of force to suppress this movement was made in order to show that the Government controls the position.— Reuter.
