SWIMMING.

DUNEDIN CLUB'S CARNIVAL, The Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club's carnivu I, held in the M uniripal Baths on Thursday evening, was a distinctly successful function from everv point of view. There were good entries and the various events were closely contested. The Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley) opened the carnival and wished the club every success. 'Hie J. J. Clark Cup and A. Doode.ward gold modal for the, best allround swimmer were presented to R. Calder. Mr H. H. Henderson (president of the Otago Centre), in making the presentation said the contest had been held throughout the year, and the present winner would hold it until next season, when the competition would again begin. fn conclusion, he congratulated the cup winner and thanked the donors of the trophies. A feature of the carnival, and one which kept things going rvith a swing was an orchestra which rendered many enjoyable items. A wireless broad-casting concert was given at the conclusion of the swimming events, hut the children present showed a distinct aversion to keep still and quiet, with the result that the spectators left the, baths. The officials in charge, of the function are to be congratulated upon the manner in which they carried the carnival through. The results are as follow: 33 1-3 YARDS DASH. HANDICAP.
