Mr D. Aml row, president of iho Otago A. and P. Society, presided at a meeting of the committee held on Thursday morning. Before proceeding with the business he referred to the death of Mr s Ellon Hellyer, of North-East Harbour, and of Miss oo«, of Woodside, and moved Unit letters of sympathy be sent to the respective rela- _ this was curried by meniliers standing in the usual manner. Accounts amounting to £226 19s 4d worn passeu for jiayrncnt. Leave of absence was granted to Mr VV. 0. M’Kellar during his visit to the OM Country, and it was decided to appoint him the society’s representative at tie National Eheepbreerlcrs’ Association conference to he held in Leicestershire After arranging several fixtures for Show Week it was derided to hold a demonstration On cattle, t ’Jydcsdale horses, and sheep during E-how Week. -Messrs Stronaeh Morris and Company have generously granted (be free use of a building in which to hold the demonstration. The building is admirably suited, dose to the show, will lighted, and the animals selected will be shown to advantage. 'I he executive was authorised to appoint the necessary delegate.-, to represent the society at tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture and the annual meeting of tho Koval Agricultural Society to be held in Wellington early in July. At that meeting it is proposed that the Royal Society lake over the functions of the Now Zealand Council of Agriculture. 'I he RL lion, Mr Massey wrote advising that he would be plea.-ed if possible to attend and officially open Die show, but until his dime itinerary was fixed ho could not advise definitely.
