LAWN TENNIS.

EASTER TOURNAMENT. Play was resumed at the Moans courts at 11 o’clock yesterday morning. The finals of the Ladies’ Singles Handicap and tho Mixed Doubles Championship were played, when the tournament had again to be postponed on account of the rain. The following are the results of the games played:— MIXED DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP. Fourth Round Bray and Miss Pattison beat Cramond and Miss Botting by default. Final. Brown and Miss MEaren, beat Bray and Miss Pattison 6—o, B—6. LADIES’ SINGLES HANDICAP. Final. Miss G. Finch beat Miss H. Balk 9—5. In the match between Brown and Miss M’Laren and Bray and Miss Pattison, the first set was won easily by Brown and Miss MTjaren 6—o, the count of stroke* being 26-12 and the fourth game being the only one that ran to ’vantage. In the second set, however, the contest was very close, practically all the games running to ’vantage and the count of strokes being 51-50. With tho consent of all players concerned the tournament has now been adjourned until Saturday morning, when the Men’s Doubles will be commenced at 10 a.m. and the Mixed Doubles Handicap at 11 a.m. The Men’s Singles Handicap will be played as soon as Alloo has played a round of the Doubles, and all competitors are required to acquaint themselves with the position of the games and be ready to play when called on. All play on Saturday will be at the Moana courts, and the finals will all be kept for the afternoon, when it is intended also to play exhibition games on any vacant courts. The following are the tournament games that remain to be,played: Men’s Doubles Championship.—Sumpter and Alloo play Deaker Bros., the winners play Tregear and Townsend, and the winners play Duthie and Gray. Mixed Doubles Hand'can.— Sumpter and Mias M’Laren play M'Dougall and Mrs M’Dougail, the winners play Bell and Mrs Bell, the winners play Webling, and Miss Sonntag,. and the winners play Earle and Miss Heywood. Men’s Handicap bingles.—Alloo plays Templeton, and the winner plays M’Donald. CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT. (Pee, United Pbbss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 23. The concluding events in the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s Easter tournament resulted as follows: — Combined Doubles Handicap.—First Grade: Miss Campbell and Barlow beat Miss Nicholls and Tait, 9 —3. Second Grade: Miss Armstrong and Edwards beat Miss Lamb and Hall, 9—3. Men’s Doubles Handicap.—Coxhead and Tait beat Barr and Wright, 9—7. Ladies’ Doubles Handicap.—Mesdames Melody and Warsaw beat Mrs Fleming and Miss Ward. 9 —6. Men’s Singles Handicap.—First Grade: Somerville beat Hammond, 9—5. Combined Doubles Championship.—Miss Spiers and Sheppherd beat Mrs Melody and Greenwood. 6—o, 6—l. Ladies’ Singles Handicap.—First Grader Miss Ward beat Miss Since, 9—5. Ladies’ Doubles Championship.—Mm Melody and Miss Bowron beat Miss Spiers and Mrs Garbutt, 6—5,' 6—4. Men’s Doubles Championship.—Goss and Greenwood beat Ollivier and Pearse, 6—4, 4—6, 6—3. In; the finals of the Ladies’ Doubles for the intor-University title. Misses Snowden and Sanders (Canterbury) beat Misses E. M. Partridge and W. -vl. Partridge (Canterbury), 9—7. In the Mixed Doubles final Ivan Seay and Miss E. M. Partridge (Canterbury) beat B. B. Loughnan and Miss W. M. Partridge (Canterbury), 6—5, B—6.
