MR THEODORE’S QUEST
A FAVOURABLE turn. \ DIFFICULTIES OVERCOME. Pna A—notation —By T«l«arraph—Copyrlgat LONDON, March Slit is understood in financial circles that the difficulties in the way of the Queensland loan have been overcome. The pastoral companies have come to terms with Mr Theodore, but the nature of the arrangement is not disclosed. Mr Theodpre informed Reuter’s Agency that the. differences with the pastora lists had been composed on the basis that the rent for leases shall not exceed the rent in operation on May 30, 1924.—A. and N.Z. and Reuter Cable. THE TERMS DISCUSSED. SOME UNUSUAL PROVISIONS. LONDON, April 1. (Received April 1, at 8.45 p.m.) The Financial Times says: “The terms of Mr Theodore’s settlement will surprise most people, because they do not involve any immediate cash consideration by either nor a reference to the contentious Arbitration Act. As the interests concerned are satisfied, the settlement should remove all fear from luvestors’ minds." The Financial News says: ‘Neither side recedes m the slightest degree from the position taken up all along. Benefit is conferred as the result of an undertaking not to repeat an act which one party to the transaction still considers illegal. Thjs strikes us as not only a somewhat negative benefit, but one which i raises a rather startling, proposition in law.”—A. and N.Z. Cable.
